Otters - Year 2

How to Care for A Dragon

Otters came back to their classroom to find things had been turned over and a special book had been left by Dr.Agon explaining to the children that his Dragonology book had been burnt while he was trying to catch a naughty dragon. He asked the children’s help in writing a new book for him. The children used their writing, art and computing skills to make their own Dragonology books.

It was a wonderful surprise for the children when Dr.Agon paid a visit to the school to see the books that they had made. Well done all of the Otters, Dr.Agon was impressed! Please see the photographs below of Dr.Agons visit!

All At Sea

In our I/C All at Sea the Otter class children have read factual information about how the Titanic was built and how the disaster unfolded.  They have written a diary entry and an eyewitness account of a passenger's survival. In History, the children have made a timeline of events to show when the Titanic sank and learned about the class system on board. During a visit from Captain Dixon they learned how the sinking of the Titanic led to huge improvements being made to sea travel.  In Geography they traced the route taken by the Titanic and identified the oceans and continents and their positions in the world. In Art the children have used a range of media, including pencil, charcoal and pastel to produce pictures of the Titanic. The children used their ICT skills control a Bee Bot robot and were able to plan routes around the icebergs.  Please enjoy some pictures of the children waiting proudly to share with their parents some of their work and the models they chose to make for home learning.

Welcome to Otters!

In Otters class we have enjoyed a visit from local author and illustrator Simon Chadwick. He shared some of his stories with us and then helped us to draw our own Otters and a mixed up animal. Here is an example of our work.
